INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS
Terry Flynn swore in new officers, (Korch and Hageman
not present):
Nancy Acevedo as President.
Ty Rogers
as Vice President/Chair of Advocacy.
Patti Karnes as Vice President/Chair of Programs.
Ruth Ann Hageman as Secretary.
Alyse Ford
and Bob Korch as new CSDREA Board members.
Jean Struikasma as Newsletter
Editor. (Lynn Swanson stays as back-up.)
John Casey as parliamentarian.
Other positions remain the same.
CSDREA' ANNUAL AUDIT APPOINTMENTS- Nancy Acevedo
Two Board Members were appointed to CSDREA's annual
audit committee- Ruth Ann Hageman and Terry Flynn. Mary Bush volunteered to the
General Member representative on the audit committee.
SDCERS REPORT- Rebecca Wilson
Income Tax With Holding can be changed any time during the year. SDCERS picks
December as an annual reminder to retirees. Check the address on the envelope
that you use. It should read 401 WEST 'A" Street,
PacificCare has extended the dis-enrollment
period on dental insurance. Joe Flynn added that your dentist may give you the
insurance rate discount on dental work not covered by your dental insurer, if
you ask.
IRS Compliance Settlement: The City will use the General fund to pay
Preservation of Benefits to about 60 retirees over the IRS' 415 limit.
ADVOCACY REPORT: Ty Rogers had no report.
MEA REPRESERNTATIVE- Kathleen Higgins
Kathleen Higgins, who works for the MEA on managed competition, asked retirees
to join employees, outside the Democratic Central Committee meeting on December
8th to carry personal signs asking for "NO" endorsements of anyone
running in the primary, although endorsements are not on the committee's
agenda.
SDCERS Fund Balance was down $250 million to $4.95 Billion since Doug McCalla's last report in October.

SECRETARY NOTE:
RETIREMENT BOARD REPRESENTATIVE RESIGNS:
Carmen Lutes, our retiree elected SDCERS representative has found it necessary
to resign from the SDCERS Board in January 2008, due to her responsibilities as
a caretaker for a family member. We will miss her and her attention to details.
She was passionate that all retirees have their estate documents up to date for
tax reasons. Are yours current?
