GENERAL MEETING MINUTES              October 9, 2007

Meeting called to order by Nancy Acevedo.
There were no corrections to last month's minutes, except the Holiday Party is on December 13th.

Nancy announced that the Board voted to keep the dues the same price for the next year.

SDCERS REPRESENTATIVE- Rebecca  Wilson
SDCERS has been looking at the percent price of purchase of service contracts established by the SDCERS Board for 1996 to 2003. Underpricing has reportedly resulted in a deficit of $146 million.  Your representatives will be speaking for those affected at a Special Meeting of SDCERS to discuss this issue on October 19th and perhaps again in November if necessary. Retirees were encouraged to attend the special meeting, which will also be televised to City residents on Channel 24.

Virginia Silverman asked if staff was contacting Members outside the area? Rebecca answered that contacting affected retirees had been a challenge for staff.
Virginia said she was also concerned about the actuary's figures on his chart and how he had arrived at those conclusions regarding purchase of service.

SDCERS Fund Balance , closing as of October 8, 2007, was $5.2 billion, up $236 million since last month).
