GENERAL MEMBER’S MEETING
JANUARY 11, 2005
President Nancy Acevedo called the meeting to order at 11:10 AM and asked John Casey to lead the membership in the Pledge of Allegiance.
The minutes of the General Member’s meeting of November 9, 2004 were approved as submitted.
Sylvia Tatum reported on two months:
Balance in the Operating Fund on November 1, 2004 was $4,210.72. Income for November was $2,227.62 and expenditures were $1,237.74 leaving a balance in the Operating Fund on November 30, 2004 of $5,200.60. Reserve accounts totaled $10,272.40 for a grand total of $15,473.00.
Balance in the Operating Fund on December 1, 2004 was $5,200.60. Income for December was $1,499.71 and expenses were $2,072.88 leaving a balance in the Operating Fund on December 31, 2004 of $4,627.43. Reserve accounts totaled $10,281.94 for a grand total of $14,909.37

Dora Garcia reported that Ranch Catering would no longer be working Mondays and Tuesdays and that she had procured the services of Souper Bowl Caterers to provide today’s lunch of chicken breast, rice, green beans, salad, roll, butter, cake and beverage for $9.00 on a trial basis. However future similar lunches by
Souper Bowl would cost between $10 and $11. Dora said she got quotes from several caterers to provide the two-entrée hot lunch similar to Ranch Catering and she was quoted prices from $13.25 to $19.00.
Dora will investigate further with these parameters in mind.
Adam Saling reviewed the proposed bylaws revisions necessary
to create an Advocacy Committee.
The revisions to the bylaws were passed unanimously.
Joe Flynn stated that the first responsibility of the committee was to monitor Retirement Board and sub-committee meetings, City Council and committee meetings and to write reports on pertinent items. These reports would be put on the association website.

Joe also reminded the members that he was now officially recognized as running for the retiree representative to the new Retirement Board to be seated in April. He has one opponent- a retired police officer. Joe has prepared a brochure outlining his qualifications and platform and encouraged a vote for him as the candidate endorsed by the Association He urged the members to contact as many as possible of the non-association member retirees (about 4,000 people) to solicit a vote for him.
