President Acevedo called the meeting to order at 9:35AM.
The minutes of the Board of Director’s meeting of November 9, 2004 were approved as submitted.

Balance in the Operating Fund on November 1, 2004 was $4,210.72. Income for November was $2,227.62 and expenditures were $1,237.74 leaving a balance in the Operating Fund on November 30, 2004 of $5,200.60. Reserve accounts totaled $10,272.40 for a grand total of $15,473.00.
Balance in the Operating Fund on December 1, 2004 was $5,200.60. Income for December was $1,499.71 and expenses were $2,072.88 leaving a balance in the Operating Fund on December 31, 2004 of $4,627.43. Reserve accounts totaled $10,281.94 for a grand total of $14,909.37
Sylvia reported that there was a loss of $102.37 on the Holiday Luncheon
Adam Saling reported on the following programs:
January: Food and nutrition expert
February: Tanya Becker, president of City Beautiful
March: TV personality Consumer Bob
April: General Cardenas (possible)
HEALTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE John Casey reported that the Health Insurance Issues Paper had been reviewed by the CERS attorney.
NEWSLETTER Joe Flynn reported that he was working with John Tsiknas to get the newsletter onto the Association’s website. Joe said he sent a reminder to those overseas newsletter recipients regarding the added cost of mailing and had received one donation back so far to cover added costs. Joe stated that since those retirees with computers are often “upgrading” to newer and faster computers a newsletter column might be set up to pass “retired” computers on to those members who do not have one.
ADVOCACY COMMITTEE Joe Flynn reported that, due to other commitments, Rosie Wiseman was resigning from the Advocacy Committee. Virginia Silverman will take her place. The Committee is currently deciding which members will cover specific Retirement Board, HAC, City Council, etc. meetings. It is possible that the chair will ask other Association members to take on temporary duties as needed.

LIABILITY INSURANCE Adam Saling reported that
the three prior RFPs for liability insurance were over a year old and had to be
re-solicited. He was preparing a new RFP letter for

After considerable discussion it was moved by Dave Wood and seconded by Adam Saling that a letter be sent to the Mayor and City Council on behalf of the Retired City Employees Association recommending that Diane Shipione be reappointed to the Retirement Board. Motion passed.
