Retirees, please pay particular attention to meeting locations and time of day. An early reservation request is in place for next year which will allow us to conduct all of our meetings in the ballroom at the Balboa Park Club. For the remainder of this year, we need to take what is available, thus all the moving around. Thanks for your patience.

| Sept. 14 | City Council Candidate Forum | A chance to hear the views of the 2 candidates who will vie for City Council District 6 in the November election. Remember, you don’t need to reside in Council District 6 to be impacted by the views of this new council member. What are the candidate's thoughts on retiree healthcare coverage, do they consider our benefits to be vested? Come and hear for yourself and ask your own questions. | Oct. 12 | SDCERS (TBA) | Planning to make this an all SDCERS program with Mark Hovey, newly appointed CEO as special guest speaker and featuring SDCERS staff with snapshots of legal issues, benefits (read 13th check, Corbett, COLA), and portfolio performance year to date. | Nov. 9 | TBA | Hoping that enough rules and regs have trickled down from the federal level that will allow for a meaningful presentation to members on the impacts of federal healthcare legislation on the choices offered to retirees. We’ve heard rumors of tax implications, but only rumors at this time, so stay tuned on this one. It will be at the Balboa Park Club.
