December 17, 2004 The Honorable Dick Murphy Subject: San Diego City Employees Retirement System If you are not yet aware that you have a bunch of psychopaths sitting on the SDCERS Board of Trustees, you and John aren’t paying attention. Their solution to fixing the multitude of problems they have created has been to hide their misdeeds by ousting, Diann Shipione, the only member among them with integrity. For that piece of moronic judgment alone they should be committed. Ms. Shipione is the only member who has the knowledge, ability, and integrity to have been appointed to your incompetent board in the first place. Moreover, she enjoys respect, gratitude, and admiration for her honesty and her effort, against all odds, to safeguard the pension fund’s assets, whereas Fred Pierce and his band of charlatans are self-serving, deceitful marauders. Larry Grissom should be fired immediately and all the trustees, with the exception of Ms. Shipione, should be replaced without delay. They are not competent to administer a piggy bank let alone a multibillion dollar pension fund. We expect you, the Council, and the City Attorney to act at once to salvage what’s left.
